To expand the
boundaries to include the new areas, businesses and land owners
need to register to vote in the poll.
Everyone who is
a business or owner of commercial property or industrial land
will be eligible to vote.
·You
can only vote once.
·Business
must operate inside the boundaries of the expanded area.
e.g. if your registered office is with an accountant in Red
Beach and you operate your business outside the zone you can
not vote.
·If
you own the building from which you operate your business,
and they are owned by the same company, you can only vote
once.
·If
your company owns more than one building or industrial title
you can only vote once.

HOW DO BUSINESS OWNERS REGISTER TO VOTE?
All businesses
within the proposed new zone have been registered by two
independent researchers who have completed two separate walk bys
of all streets within the new zone. All vacant buildings have
been listed with the previous tenant title only.
HOW DO I REGISTER AS A PROPERTY OWNER OR OWNER OF AN INDUSTRIAL
TITLE?
If you are a
property owner we already have your details through council
records.
HOW DO I CHECK THAT I AM REGISTERED TO VOTE?
You will be able to check whether you have been
included on the register by calling Destination Orewa Beach.
If something has
gone wrong and for some legitimate reason you have not received
voting papers during the 14 day voting period you should contact
DOB
immediately.
If time permits a replacement voting paper will be sent by the
polling agent.
DO RESIDENTS LIVING INSIDE THE ZONE VOTE?
NO. Residential properties are exempt even if
they are inside a commercial zone. This is a business poll
only.
WHO WILL RUN THE POLL?
The poll will be
run by New Zealand Polling Services Auckland. They are totally
independent. They are the same organisation that run the Local

AT WHAT % IS THE POLL CARRIED?
The criteria for
a successful poll is 60% of those that vote. We believe the
business advantages far out weigh the small weekly cost of
membership — but you need to make that decision. We strongly
recommend that you attend the last meeting so that any questions
can be answered.
WHEN DO THE REGISTRATIONS CLOSE?
The closing date will be 7th September 2009.
CAN I REGISTER AFTER THE CLOSING DATE?
If something has
gone wrong and for some legitimate reason you have not received
voting papers during the 14 day voting period you should contact
Leanne
immediately.
If time permits a replacement voting paper will be sent by the
polling agent.
We are expecting to hear the results by 18th
September 2009. This solely depends on New Zealand Polling
Services. The results will be announced in the Rodney Times at
the first available opportunity. A letter will also be sent to
everyone on the register.
