DOB has been established for over eleven
years and has developed a number of tools to promote
business within the commercial zone of Orewa.
These include:-
Orewa Beach business & visitor brochure - every member
has a listing. Circulation – 60,000 (240,000
readership). Distribution - hotels, motels, visitor
information i-Site centres, RDC Offices, cruise ships,
travel agents overseas, HBC schools, churches, community
& sport groups and key visitor outlets.
Jasons Travel Media, ‘Visitor Point’ distribution - To
gain maximum business exposure to the tourism market the
Orewa Visitor Guide is displayed in 147 key
accommodation, transport rental and entertainment
centres focusing on Auckland City and the North Shore
areas.
Letter box & Post Office Box – One off distribution to
both postal boxes and residential letterboxes in the
Hibiscus Coast, Silverdale, Warkworth, Matakana and
Snells Beach areas.

motels on the site receive up to 60% of their business
from the site.
Monthly newsletter. Our newsletter aims to keep everyone
up-to-date with the associations activities.
Large data base - eNews promotional newsletter.
Established key annual community events.
Offers members educational and business seminars
Advanced town centre beautification and graffiti control
program
Council representation on matters that effect business
e.g. rates, infrastructure, planning economic
development.
Key driver behind the Police co-ordinated community
patrols.
Raised sponsorship funding for truancy officer to be
based in Orewa. (reduced petty crime)
Destination Orewa Beach has developed and
refined promotional activities to maximize the use of
members levies by controlling costs and leveraging
promotions.
DOB has already spent hundreds of thousands
of dollars on research and developing its various marketing
tools to promote its business district. We want to share
this investment with our new members free of charge so that
we can grow and market the entire Hibiscus Coast.
WHY THE CHANGE.
The proposed new Auckland ‘super city’ has
prompted the DOB Board to consider how it can best represent
both current and new members interests.
Given the natural geographic nature of Orewa
and surrounding areas the DOB board believes that the Orewa
model could provide real advantages to
