OREWA BEACH - A GREAT DESTINATION Jewel in the crown
The friendly resort town is the gateway to
the Hibiscus Coast and Rodney District.
There is a great local community which
provides plenty of leisure activities from
snow skiing, the luge, go karting, cinemas
and light railway.
The atmosphere
here is leisurely and it has retained its
holiday destination feel largely due to its
natural green environment. Wenderholm
Regional Park located to the north of Orewa
is one of Auckland’s best examples of
mainland coastal forest which contains bush
tracks, swimming and picnic areas under the
magnificent pohutukawa trees.
But it is Orewa
Beach itself that is the biggest draw card
because of its safe swimming aspect and its
surfing and fishing. Orewa Beach has its own
surf club which hosts annual power boat
racing and the long beach lends itself to
most water sports including kite and
windsurfing.
Town Centre
Orewa still has a village atmosphere in its
town centre but hosts a sumptuous selection
of restaurants and cafes, a variety of
retail shops and a friendly vibrant shopping
experience – all within steps of the
pristine foreshore of Orewa Beach.
Activities
Orewa Beach is a key tourist stop with many
guests making Orewa their base; being
centrally located near the motorway enables
guests to complete day trips at their
leisure. The Rodney District offers outdoor
adventure activities which are as diverse as
the landscape from horse riding on windswept
Parkiri Beach, Kayaking one of the many
scenic rivers, abseiling adventure courses
suspended in the forests, 4 WD track
adventures, reptile parks, a host of
beautiful scenic and marine reserves,
historic Kawau Island to sophisticated
galleries and sculpture parks.
